Rocket Money alternatives. Four honest picks.

The short answer

Rocket Money is best known for finding and cancelling subscriptions. If a plain budget is what you are after, the right switch depends on bank sync. With sync: Monarch Money or Quicken Simplifi. Free with manual entry: EveryDollar. Quick phone logging without connecting a bank: Pockita.

Try Pockita free for 7 days, then $9.99 a month. Or pay $39.99 once for lifetime access.

Why people look for a Rocket Money alternative

From November 2, 2026, only Premium+ members can submit new bill negotiations. Outside Premium+, a negotiation started before that date carries a fee of 35 to 60 percent of the first year’s savings, a share the member chooses, charged only if it succeeds. Premium+, a fixed $15 a month plus tax, has no success fee. If negotiating bills is why you use Rocket Money, none of the four picks below replaces it.

Premium has no fixed price. You pick what to pay on a slider, and Rocket Money’s pricing guide says that is typically $7 to $14 a month, though the App Store lists Premium at other amounts. Its help center quoted lower ranges in February 2024 and August 2025, and a fixed Premium+ plan now sits above Premium. Its terms say every price gets the same features, so you can pick the low end, but the range it quotes has risen.

The free plan covers less than it first appears. Rocket Money says its website is for Premium members only, and its help center said so by September 2025. Manual transactions, transaction export and having its team cancel subscriptions for you are Premium features too. Free members can track every subscription but must cancel them on their own, and they get two custom category budgets.

What Rocket Money does well

Rocket Money is good at what it is known for, and plenty of people should stay. It finds recurring charges in your linked accounts and, on Premium, cancels many of them for you. In the comparison table below, its web app and shared logins are Premium features and its AI assistant is Premium+ only. None of the four picks lists cancelling subscriptions for you or negotiating bills as a feature, so if either is why you use Rocket Money, staying may be the better call.

  • Finding recurring charges and subscriptions from your linked accounts, even on the free plan
  • Cancelling many unwanted subscriptions for you on Premium
  • Sharing with a partner who gets their own login, on one Premium membership

The picks

Pockita

Pick it if you want to log spending in seconds on your phone and never connect a bank.

Pockita never connects to a bank, so there is nothing to scan for subscriptions: you log spending by voice, receipt or a few taps, and add recurring items such as rent and subscriptions yourself. It does not cancel subscriptions or negotiate bills. You also give up automatic sync, shared budgets, importing your Rocket Money data, investment tracking and a web version. Rocket Money is for users in the United States only, while Pockita lets you choose the currency you budget in.

Monarch Money

Pick it if you want every account synced into one dashboard you share with a partner.

Monarch keeps the bank-sync approach. It links your banks and lists subscriptions and bills in a calendar or list view, with notifications so you do not miss a payment, but you cancel subscriptions yourself. A partner gets their own login, as with Rocket Money’s shared account. It costs $14.99 a month or $99.99 a year after a 7-day free trial.

Quicken Simplifi

Pick it if you want automatic bank sync at a low yearly price.

Simplifi keeps bank sync and builds a spending plan from your income, bills and subscriptions, which it lists so you can see what is coming. It is billed yearly on Quicken’s site, at $83.88 a year. There is no free trial, but Quicken refunds a subscription bought directly from it within 30 days. You can share it with one other person, though they currently have to sign in on the web app.

EveryDollar

Pick it if you want a free zero-based budget and are happy typing transactions in.

EveryDollar is the free route if you will enter transactions by hand. Its free version has unlimited budget categories, where Rocket Money’s free plan has two custom category budgets. Bank sync is a Premium feature, at $17.99 a month or $79.99 a year after a 14-day free trial for new users. The method is zero-based, so every dollar gets a plan before the month starts, and a partner can sign in with their own email.

Switching from Rocket Money to Pockita

  1. While Premium is still active, export your transactions to a CSV file so you keep a record: in the app, open the Transactions tab, tap the menu icon and choose CSV Download, then open the emailed link on a desktop or laptop. Pockita starts fresh rather than importing it. If you keep money in a Rocket Money Financial Goal, transfer it back to your own account before you leave, because its terms say the funds stay in the custodial account until you instruct a transfer.
  2. Pick a start date, ideally the first of a month, and log forward from there.
  3. Set monthly limits for the 8 to 15 categories you actually look at, and add your recurring bills and subscriptions yourself, because Pockita does not find them for you.
  4. Run both apps for a week and compare the totals. Then cancel Rocket Money Premium; the FAQ below has the steps. Cancelling takes effect at the end of your billing cycle and leaves your account and any active bill negotiation in place. To delete the account too, Rocket Money asks you to cancel Premium, bill negotiations and financial goals first, and deleting erases your data for good.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Rocket Money alternative?

It depends on what you want to keep. For bank sync, Monarch Money, or Quicken Simplifi, which is billed yearly on Quicken’s site. For a free version with manual entry, EveryDollar. For quick phone logging without connecting a bank, Pockita. None of the four cancels subscriptions for you or negotiates bills, so if that is why you use Rocket Money, staying may be the better call. Our subscription audit guide shows how to find and cancel them by hand.

Is there a Rocket Money alternative without bill negotiation fees?

None of the four picks sells bill negotiation, so none charges a fee for it, and none can replace it. At Rocket Money, a negotiation started outside Premium+ before November 2, 2026 carries a fee of 35 to 60 percent of the first year’s savings, charged only if it succeeds. Premium+, a fixed $15 a month plus tax, has no success fee, and from that date it is the only way to submit new negotiations: Premium and free members cannot. Rocket Money says Premium+ may not be available to every member. To avoid both the fee and the plan, you can negotiate your bills yourself, as the related guide explains.

Is there a free alternative to Rocket Money?

Rocket Money has a free plan of its own. It links your accounts and tracks subscriptions, with two custom category budgets, and leaves the website, manual transactions, transaction export and having its team cancel subscriptions to Premium. Among the picks, only EveryDollar has a free version: you enter transactions yourself, and bank sync is on Premium at $17.99 a month or $79.99 a year after a 14-day free trial for new users. Monarch Money and Quicken Simplifi are paid, and so is Pockita: $9.99 a month after a 7-day free trial, or $39.99 once for lifetime access.

Which Rocket Money alternative is best for budgeting?

Rocket Money does budget: its own FAQ calls budgeting core to the app, with two custom category budgets on the free plan and unlimited ones on Premium. Among the picks, Monarch Money lets you choose flex or category budgeting, Quicken Simplifi builds a spending plan from your income, bills and subscriptions, and EveryDollar is zero-based, so every dollar gets a plan. Pockita is plainer: you set a monthly limit for each category, log spending in a few taps, and get an alert when a budget nears its limit. If you want transactions to arrive on their own or a budget shared with a partner, pick one of the other three.

How do I cancel Rocket Money Premium?

In the app, open Settings, choose Membership, tap Manage Membership, slide the price all the way down to zero, then tap Cancel Subscription and follow the prompts. On the website, open Settings, choose Membership, click Manage in the upper right and do the same. Cancelling takes effect at the end of your billing cycle, so you keep Premium until then. It does not delete your account, active bill negotiations stay in place, and notifications and emails continue until you change your alert settings. Rocket Money’s terms ask for at least 3 business days’ notice before the next scheduled payment, so cancel early. Premium+ members who want to go back to Premium contact Rocket Money support. If Apple or Google bills your subscription, cancel it through your Apple or Google subscription settings instead. Rocket Money’s own steps and Apple’s and Google’s are linked in the sources below.
